PI

What Is PI?
Pi is an infinite number, which means it can be expressed as a fraction. The number Pi is a never ending number. So the first numbers are 3.14159265....... Because this number is never ending we look at the first 3 numbers after the decimal and round to the nearest hundreth. Because the thousandth spot is 1 you must round it to 3.14.
The word Pi came from the language of Greek. It is used as a symbol to represent a Greek letter.

The history of pi.

As you know Pi is a strange number, and has been know for over 4000 years. One of the greatest mathematician ever, Archimedes of Syracuse was the first to ever calculate Pi. Yet, only 400 years ago mathematicians started using the symbol Pi. Introduced by William Jones in 1706 and popularized Euler, and then adopted in 1736.
There is evidence the Egypyians calculated the area of a circle by the the formula that gave the approximate value
of Pi.

What Kind of Number is Pi

Pi is an infinite number which, means it can be expressed a a fraction. The number is also irrational number which means a number cannot be repeated.

What Formulas Do You Use for Pi

Formulas you use for Pi include: the formula for finding the area of a circle, the perimeter of a circle, the volume of a sphere, cylander, and cone.

How To Calculate Pi

To Find The Circumfrence of a Circle-"C"=Pi*"d"
Use Circumfrence to Solve a Problem-"C"=2Pi*"r"

The distance around a circle is called its Circumference "C" . The distance across a circle through its center is called its Diameter "D". Forumula for Circumference is : C= π D. Here are links to help you:
